Cooperation with »Erinnerungsort Topf & Söhne«
The qualification programme »Career entry to the field of civic education & youth work« cooperates with the Erinnerungsort Topf & Söhne Erfurt and the project based there »What’s it to me?« – Seminars for Strengthening Democracy and Diversity, which is run together with the Spirit of Football association.
Ida Forbringer, part of the project team at the Erinnerungsort Topf & Söhne, got to know our network of trainers on Sunday, 18 January, and spoke about human rights-oriented educational work in dealing with National Socialism. The trainers will have the opportunity to participate in further training opportunities in the area of the place of remembrance and to work as trainers on site. Music, Theatre and Human Rights Education: Creative Civic Education in Module 7
Last weekend we had a musical and theatrical event. The qualification programme »Career entry to the field of civic education & youth work« asked itself the following questions on 17 and 18 January: What can creative political education and human rights education look like? What function can art forms have in the field of political education? Different approaches and inspiring examples at the interface of informal, formal and non-formal education in a global context were presented.
We had the pleasure to welcome the artist Malu NCB »Maurice LUMONA ALIMASI« as a guest who presented his political music and got a further insight into human rights education through music with a focus on the Democratic Republic of Congo from Jean De Dieu Cirhigiri – himself a participant of the project. The project participants Louai Soudan and Emir Akköse presented their experiences in theatre education and forum theatre as well as the possibilities of linking political education. Margaux Richet also presented artistic projects in political education from theatre and circus.
We are looking forward to more movement and music in the future, but also to more international suggestions of educational approaches and wish to be able to integrate this even more into our programme!

Modul 6 beschäftigte sich mit Menschenrechten

Am Wochenende des 12. und 13. Dezember fand das letzte Modul in diesem außergewöhnlichen Jahr statt. Zum Jahresabschluss befasste sich die Gruppe mit einem Thema, welches dem Projektteam ganz besonders am Herzen liegt: Menschenrechte. Dabei wurden viele globale und auch kritische Perspektiven auf Menschenrechtsdokumente geworfen, eigene Menschenrechtsverletzungen als Opfer und Täter reflektiert und das Thema darüberhinaus auch philisophisch angegangen.
Als Gast durften wir Medina Yilmaz begrüßen, eine langjährige Aktivistin aus der Türkei mit viel Erfahrung in diesem Thema. Ihre Biografie, die sie anhand von Menschenrechten erzählte, wurde von Oliver Kontny übersetzt.
Außerdem hatten wir einen weiteren, ganz besonderen Programmpunkt: »Decolonize Weimar«, ein Projekt, das an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar gegründet wurde und nun in Zusammenarbeit mit Teilnehmer*innen dieses Projekts weiterentwickelt wird, nahm uns mit auf einen virtuellen Stadtrundgang durch Weimar, welcher die koloniale Geschichte aufarbeitet.
Im Anschluss daran fand eine tiefgehende Debatte statt zu Narrativen und den Perspektiven, aus welchen sie erzählt werden.
Dieses Wochenende formte nur den Beginn der Auseinandersetzung mit Menschenrechten in dieser Gruppe. Wir sind gespannt darauf, wie es weitergeht!

Netzwerk »Discover Diversity« entwickelt Grundlagenpapier

Mitglieder des Netzwerks »Discover Diversity – Netzwerk für Diversität in der politischen Bildung« trafen sich am 03.12.2020 online. Die EJBW ist ein Mitglied dieses Netzwerks, und Eric Wrasse nahm an diesem Treffen für die EJBW teil. Im Verlauf der Veranstaltung wurden die Ziele des Netzwerks festgelegt und ein Grundlagendokument verabschiedet, das Grundlage der Arbeit in den kommenden Jahren sein wird. Modul 5 »Migration« fand als Online-Seminar statt
In the 5th module of the qualification programme, which took place on 28 and 29 November as an online-seminar, the trainees dealt with migration theories and (their) personal migration stories. Project manager Aline Mugisho designed the theoretical basis for the weekend seminar, Siwan Alkerdi went deeper into the topic of »escape« and also shared her personal experience as an asylum seeker in Thuringia.
On Sunday, November 29th, we were pleased to welcome Amer Katbeh, trainer and PhD student of »peace and conflict research« an der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg. He gave an inspiring and critical lecture on »Integration and Identity« and unconsciously raised gender issues. Furthermore, Ity Fikiri, research intern in our project, was also present. He shared the results of his research on the labour market entry of migrant women into political education.
