Workshop series on the 30th anniversary of the Thuringian Constitution
There was a special opportunity in our pool of trainers for two graduates of our qualification programme: Caroline Ellenberger and Valeriya Kitsis developed a workshop concept for the 30th anniversary of the Thuringian Constitution with the support of Dorit Machell, coordinator of the project.
Together with Doreen Denstädt, the Thuringian Minister for Migration, Justice and Consumer Protection, they ran a total of five workshops in state schools across Thuringia from September to December 2023. Pupils in grades 6 to 8 were given an insight into selected articles of the state constitution and learnt about their historical background through a quiz.
They were able to discuss the topics of freedom, values and participation in small groups. At the end of the workshop, they had the opportunity to put their questions about the Thuringian constitution, children’s rights and youth participation directly to Minister Doreen Denstädt in a Q&A session.
The workshop series was launched as part of a project by the Thuringian Ministry of Migration, Justice and Consumer Protection in cooperation with the EJBW and was welcomed with joy by the school headmasters, teachers and pupils. The workshops were intended to offer young people across the state the opportunity to familiarise themselves more intensively with the basics of the Thuringian constitution and motivate them to participate in public life. The cooperation with the ministry was also a special experience for our trainers.
