Dorit Machell and Juliana Odamea Asare give workshop on »Accessibility of civic education/human rights education and educational centres« for the German Institute for Human Rights
In the workshop, which will take place in the framework of an event organised by the German Institute for Human Rights, Dorit Machell and Juliana Odamea Asare will share their experiences in relation to accessibility of civic/human rights education and educational institutions from migrant and differently positioned positions and jointly develop steps that educational institutions can take to improve accessibility based on the challenges they face.
The European Youth Education and Youth Exchange Centre has been offering a qualification programme in human rights education since 2016, and in its current form since 2020, by inviting migrants and refugees in particular to enter the professional field of human rights education/political education. The differently intersectionally positioned team explores together what HRD can look like and what is needed to make it inclusive for everyone. Central to this process is the question: How can educational institutions, the professional field and traditional political education practices become more accessible for people with a history of migration and flight? In this workshop, we would like to share our experiences and come a step closer to answering this question together.
This workshop will be held in English with possible translation into German. Further information can be found on the website of the German Institute for Human Righshare on Facebook · veröffentlicht am 26. March 2024
