International Summer Camp »Youth in Cold War Europe & Beyond«
From August 15 to 24, 2025, the international summer camp »Youth in Cold War Europe & Beyond« took place in Weimar. 35 young people from six countries came together to reflect on history, politics, and culture in a divided Europe. In workshops, discussions, and excursions, they explored topics such as propaganda, youth organizations, subcultures, and eyewitness accounts.
Highlights included a visit to the Andreasstraße Memorial and Education Center in Erfurt and conversations with people who had grown up in the GDR. Creativity also played a big role: participants produced collages, theater performances, as well as audio and video projects. The participants looked back not only on an intensive week of learning, but also on new friendships and inspiring international perspectives.
