Irem Orhan

Irem Orhan was born in Turkey in 1994. She studied English Language Teaching at Uludağ University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in 2016.

In 2018, she came to Germany to pursue her master’s degree. Since then, she has been working part-time as a translator & interpreter at REFUGIO Thüringen – Psychosocial Center for Refugees and also accompanies refugees in their everyday life. In 2019, she attended the training program for civic education at the EJBW. Since then, she has offered workshops on immigration law and discrimination as well as prejudices (especially as part of the state program »School without Racism – School with Courage«). In 2019, she also completed an internship at EJBW in PR & Marketing.

Soon she will receive her master’s degree in English /​ American Studies at Friedrich Schiller University of Jena. She mostly works in topics such as discrimination, prejudice against certain groups of people, everyday racism and intercultural exchange.

Irem offers seminars and workshops in Turkish, English and German.
