Visualization in the Seminar: The Power of the Symbols
Time required: 1.5 to 4 hours
Target Audience: Multipliers, teachers, seminar leaders, interested persons
Background
»A picture is worth a thousand words«. Visual representations can often break down complex issues and make them easier to remember and understand. However, images also pose the challenge of reinforcing unconscious norms and prejudices.
Objective
In this workshop, we will look at the basics of flipchart design (including writing, frames, symbols,…), the visual presentation of complex issues and anti-discrimination visualizations, and reflect on the impact of images and the reproduction of stereotypes. The aim is to sensitize participants and provide them with tools to create and use anti-discriminatory, inclusive and diverse visualizations – be it in (flipchart) presentations or in the design of seminar materials.
Procedure
Lots of experimentation with markers in hand!
Note
- The workshop can be held in English and/or German.
- The workshop is also offered in simple language.
