Dorit Machell
Dorit Machell is a cultural scientist (M.A.) with an academic background in media culture, international relations and management, which she studied in Weimar (Germany) and Malmö (Sweden). She has also completed numerous specialised trainings in areas such as human rights education, European non-formal education, sustainability education, dialogue facilitation, online moderation, non-violent communication, design thinking, coaching and inclusive event management (e.g. Noah Sow Academy).
Since 2011, Dorit has been working as an educational consultant, learning facilitator and project coordinator in European non-formal adult education. Since 2017, her work has mainly focused on human rights education, professional development and organisational training. She explores how knowledge transfer and organisational processes can be designed in a democratic, power-critical, diversity and discrimination-sensitive way. Dorit’s main areas of work include supporting organisations, schools and projects to become more aware of discrimination and to adopt more inclusive practices.
In 2017, Dorit completed an advanced training in civic education at the European Youth Education and Youth Meeting Centre in Weimar, which she later took over pedagogically. This programme developed into a comprehensive qualification offer in 2020. Since then, Dorit has been a full-time project manager for the EJBW’s Migrants as Youth Work Professionals project, where she plans, designs and facilitates the qualification programme in Civic Education. She also offers freelance training in learning design, workshop facilitation, project management and extensive train-the-trainer courses.
Having lived in Iceland, Sweden and Canada, Dorit has called Weimar home for over a decade, where she enjoys life with her bilingual, bi-national family. Based in Weimar, Dorit works throughout Europe with a particular focus on Thuringia and also offers online programmes.
She provides educational services and facilitation in both German (C2) and English (C2).
