I do have Rights! Introduction to Human Rights for Children
Time required: 2 to 4 hours
Target group: children from 8 to 12 years
Background
»Everyone has the right to know, seek and receive information about all human rights and fundamental freedoms and should have access to human rights education and training.« (Article 1 United Nations Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training)
It is therefore the right of all of us to learn about and understand human rights from an early age and to be able to implement them in everyday life.
Procedure
Human rights (alternatively children’s rights) are approached in an interactive, playful and visual way, making them understandable and relating them to the reality of children’s lives. Children can contribute with their different abilities.
Objective
To get to know the Universal Declaration of Human Rights/the UN Children’s Rights for the first time; to understand their relevance in the everyday life of each individual.
Please note
- The format, the time frame and the specific focus will be adapted to the target group and objectives after consultation. This workshop is also available as a specialist workshop or internal staff training for elementary school and other institutions that work with children aged between 6 and 12.
- The workshop can be held in German or English.
- The educational programs can be compiled into project weeks.
