Fit for dealing with right-wing content on the internet
Time required: 3 hours
Target group: Pupils aged 14 and over
Previous knowledge: none, possibly participation in the workshop on right-wing extremism (basic workshop).
Background
Right-wing networks are increasingly using social media to spread their ideologies and recruit new members. With the help of right-wing extremist influencers, they often deliberately present themselves as modern and target young people in particular.
Right-wing extremist content is not always recognizable at first glance. In some cases, right-wing messages and disinformation are conveyed in a subtle or hidden way, e.g. through supposed humor such as memes or supposedly serious news articles.
At the same time, social networks are also used to spread racist and misanthropic statements and to normalize them in society.
Aims
This workshop aims to teach young people media skills in dealing with right-wing content in order to recognize and critically question it. In addition, civil courage in dealing with hate messages on the Internet is also practiced.
Notes
In preparation for this workshop, there is a basic workshop on right-wing extremism.
