Patricia Oulehla
Patricia Oulehla studied »Social and Cultural Anthropology« and »Journalism and Communication Studies« (Bachelor) at the University of Vienna. She is currently studying for a Master’s degree in »Cultural and Social Anthropology« at the FU Berlin. Since living in Berlin, she has volunteered as a mentor in a program to promote active participation and educational equality.
She has been working intensively on the topics of racism, sexism and intersectionality since the beginning of her studies: in 2019, she wrote her bachelor’s thesis on »Everyday racism and white fragility«. She revisited the topic in a documentary film. As part of her bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication studies, she dealt with the representation and portrayal of minorities in the media. She also researched extremism in social media.
During her self-employed PR work, she designed a workshop on »body shaming online & offline« and realized how much beauty ideals and gender norms are still shaped by colonialism today.
In 2019, she co-founded a project that aims to help smaller organizations in the field of flight/migration, LGBTQ rights and anti-racism work to gain more attention – with the help of ethical storytelling.
All these activities enabled her to gain personal insights into the reality of different people’s lives and politicized her a great deal.
How did she get into political education? Her bachelor’s research in particular had an immense influence on her personal development and sensitized her to social injustice in its various forms. This also led her to look more closely at her own family history of migration, other forms of discrimination and the question of social participation. These experiences, as well as her own participation in various seminars in the field of anti-discrimination, strengthened her desire to work in the field of political education in the future. As a working-class child, it is particularly important to her that her workshops are inclusive and low-threshold.
Patricia Oulehla offers her workshops in German and English.
