Julien Breunig

Julien Breunig has been studying Human-Computer Interaction at the Bauhaus University in Weimar for three years and came into contact with civic education through my involvement in the student council. In autumn 2020, he decided to take part in the EJBW’s training programme.

Since a large part of his studies consists of putting people at the centre of the design process of digital applications, it is always necessary to find out their needs first. These need to be communicated, which brings us to the topic of language, which is fascinating to him.

He focuses particularly on how language shapes our ideas and thus contributes to the emergence of prejudices and stereotypes. But also how language consciously and unconsciously leads to groups of people being excluded and made invisible, insulted and discriminated against. He would like to help us become more aware of our own language and live an inclusive and discrimination-free coexistence on a linguistic level as well.

Julien Breunig offers workshops in German and English.
