Qassim Alhomayyer
Qassim Alhumayyer (he/him) is studying Social Work (B.A.) at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences and has been involved in extracurricular and political education work since 2018. He came to Germany as a refugee at the age of 17 and has lived in various cities since his arrival at the end of 2015, including Leverkusen, Mannheim, Essen and Leipzig.
Qassim is actively involved in society. He was involved in the ›Empowered by Democracy‹ project and part of the ›Generation Grenzenlos‹ online campaign. In 2022/23, he completed the EJBW qualification programme and has been part of the trainer network ever since.
He specialises in the following topics
- Discrimination and intersectionality
- Anti-racism and empowerment (for BIPoC)
- Flight and migration
- Critical masculinity(ies) and post-migration
- Multilingualism and language animation
- alues, culture and orientalism
- Social learning and career guidance
In his workshops, Qassim attaches great importance to peer-to-peer education and sees himself as a facilitator of the group’s learning process – with a clear focus on process-orientation. A critical view of social issues is particularly important to him in his educational work. He therefore favours formats that enable exchange in learning spaces and integrate different perspectives, also in an emancipatory sense. He also enjoys working in teams and uses methods such as movement, dance, biographical exercises and storytelling.
Qassim offers workshops in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and North Rhine-Westphalia in particular, but is also active nationwide. He conducts his workshops in German, English and Arabic.
