Mansour Rasoully

Mansour Rasoully, a young activist and human rights defender from Afghanistan, who started his academic journey in 2018 with a realization of how gender inequality is driving societies apart and how the system has failed to deliver better education for all in his country. He embarked on a journey to rewrite the existing narratives. Early in his academic journey, Mansour became an alumnus of the English Access Microscholarship program funded by the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.

This initiative served as a pivotal turning point in his life, providing him with a nurturing environment where he could learn and share his experiences with others. Taking the given platform as a privilege, He has been a proud advocator for Gender equality, equal distribution of opportunities, and Quality education ever since in his country. Mansour’s interest in international relations earned him numerous accolades, including recognition as an Outstanding and Honorable Delegate in many MUN programs. Further, He is incredibly proud and humbled to have co-founded Afghanistan’s High Schools Model UNs, the country’s first-ever Model UN for high school students at the national level. His involvement in Model UNs also includes serving as the Chairperson at the regional conference of Afghanistan Model UNs in association with the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

In 2020, Mansour’s dedication to social change led him to volunteer with the UNICEF Afghanistan team, where he was subsequently, elected as the secretary of the Adolescents and Youth Network (AYN). As a Youth Group, Mansour and his teammates advised and coordinated different programs with the UN family In Afghanistan to ensure the equal participation of young people, women and men, boys and girls in decision-making and to have their voices heard. Particularly, in the wake of political transitions such as the Taliban’s takeover. Moreover, He contributed to the extension of U-Report Afghanistan as an executive member in the northern zone of his country. A virtual platform bringing people’s voices to build a data-based approach to the people’s needs and concerns.

He also played a crucial role as a gender transformative trainer and staunch advocate for marginalized communities, including the LGBTQI+ community and women in rural areas. Mansour’s commitment to youth empowerment and humanitarian causes led him to join the Adolescent and Youth Working Group (AYWG) under the auspices of UNFPA, where he prioritizes the needs and rights of young people affected by conflict and emergencies in Afghanistan. Continuing his activism on a global scale, Mansour became a member of the Global Activists Advisory Group at Amnesty International, where he supports effective activism and advocacy on a global level.

Mansour is presently, based in Germany and volunteering with the UNICEF German committee as well as a trainer in civil education and human rights. Leveraging his experiences to empower marginalized communities and advocate for social justice. He remains actively engaged with national and international organizations to advocate for the situation of Afghanistan and beyond. Mansour’s vision is to contribute to the development and transformation of better and more inclusive societies that are youth-centered, focus and emphasizes on equal distribution of leadership with diverse groups and backgrounds, and invests in resources and innovation for achieving our global goals.
