Carolin Burau
Carolin Burau is currently studying for a Master’s degree in »Intercultural Human Resources Development and Communication Management« at Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
In 2017, she took part in a 6–month training program on critical perspectives on development policy, global learning, sustainable business, racism and discrimination at ASA Engagement Global. Since then, she has been very interested in these topics. From 2017 to 2019, she worked part-time at ASA as a mentor and teamer for trainees.
Her passion is to work in projects that come from the heart of the participants and support them. Together with her husband, she started cultivating a permaculture garden with 50 women from a village in Ghana in 2021. In the future, they would like to open a training farm there together with the villagers and redesign the midwife clinic.
She would like to work on the following topics in the future: Children’s rights, adultism and empowerment for children and young people / anti- / discrimination, critical whiteness and anti-racism / gender issues such as mental load and empowerment for women.
Carolin wants her workshops to be participatory so that an exchange takes place and both workshop leaders and participants are learners and teachers at the same time. Everyone brings previous knowledge and their own experiences, which can be enriching for the whole group. She offers her workshops in German and English.
