Post-growth and the question of an alternative economy
Target group: Interested parties, people working in the field of sustainability and ecology, multipliers
Time required: 2 to 6 hours
Background
Our current form of economy, capitalism, promises prosperity for society as a whole. At the same time, it undermines our natural living conditions and systematically creates inequality, exploitation and poverty. In contrast, alternative economic approaches are trying to find out how we can operate in a socially and ecologically sustainable way.
Where do so-called degrowth approaches come in? How do they tackle social and ecological challenges? What consequences would they have for our society?
Objective
- Understanding how capitalist economies and society as a whole work
- Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of alternative economic forms
- Reflect on own power to act
