Basic workshop: Climate justice
Target group: Interested parties, people working in the field of sustainability and ecology, multipliers
Time required: 6 hours
Background
Climate? Exists! Justice? You can argue about this in a social context. What at first seems to be an arbitrary combination is worth a closer look. So how are the two connected? It is undeniable that the climate is changing and that some groups are suffering more than others. Yet it is the groups that have the least influence on man-made climate change.
Procedure
The workshop aims to clarify the basic terms of the concept of climate justice and look at the conflicts associated with climate change. We will explore the question of what voices there are, especially from the Global South, that are often not heard in the Global North. Methodologically, the workshop moves between group work, discussion and reflection rounds, individual work, theatre and physical work.
Objectives
- Learn the basic concepts and terms of the climate crisis and climate justice
- Discuss and recognise key problem areas of climate justice
- Experience a broadening of perspective and thereby learn empathy and understanding for other life situations
- Reflecting on one’s own power (to act)/position in society
- Developing possibilities for intervention and action against the backdrop of global injustice
