Feminist perspective on self-care and boundaries
Time required: 4 to 5 hours
Age group: Grade 10
Background
In the exclusionary (power) conditions that characterise the realities of life for FLINTA (women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans* and agender people), being good to yourself and practising self-care is an act of resistance.
What we can draw from this gives us strength in times of struggle and in the fight for more equality.
Process & objectives
In this workshop, we will explore the topic of (setting) boundaries as a political practice of self-care. How can we be good to ourselves? What are boundaries actually and why is it so important that we as FLINTA become aware of our boundaries?
Together with the speaker, a sensitive and boundary-aware space will be developed in which talking about being good to oneself and the difficulties involved can be discussed. Participants are invited to bring themselves and their (biographical) experiences to the workshop. Based on mutual respect and openness, the aim is to create a framework in which self-reflection on one’s own limits is made possible.
Notes
The workshop is aimed at FLINTA or M(L)INTA (women, girls, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans* and agender people).
