Empowerment and self-assertion for BIPOC people
Duration: 3,5 – 5 hours
Target group: young people and adult BIPOC persons
Prior knowledge: none
Background
Experiences of discrimination can have a lasting impact on the biography of those affected. Once they have internalized them, they change their behaviour and their view of the world. The aim of the workshop is to create an awareness of these experiences and to recognize the extent to which they influence one’s own life. The experience that you are not alone with your experiences plays a decisive role here.
In a second step, the aim is to work with the participants on how they can actively process the influence of these experiences and push back the impact they have on their own lives. Knowledge about discrimination and its effects should thus lead to the power to act.
Participants should find out which resources and skills they already have and which they can build on to counter discrimination in their everyday lives. Processing the experience is an important first step. However, participants should also learn about ways to actively combat discrimination. The opportunity for participants to exchange ideas is the focus of the entire workshop.
