Background
This workshop aims to empower young people to understand the interconnectedness of sustainability and human rights. Through interactive activities, discussions, and case studies, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the three pillars of sustainability (environmental, economic, and social) and how they impact human rights. We will explore the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their worldwide implications for individuals and communities.
Aims:
- Awareness: To raise awareness of the key concepts of sustainability and human rights, including their definitions, importance, and interrelationship. And to analyze the three pillars of sustainability and their relationship with human rights
- Understanding: To foster understanding of the SDGs and their relevance to global challenges and local communities.
- Critical Thinking: To develop critical thinking skills to analyze complex issues related to sustainability and human rights.
- Engagement: To encourage active engagement in sustainability and human rights initiatives and advocacy.
Prcedure
Workshop Outline:
- Introduction to Sustainability and Human Rights
- The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Case Studies: Sustainability and Human Rights in Action
- Youth Advocacy and Engagement
Activities and Methods:
- Interactive discussions: Facilitated discussions to explore different perspectives and ideas.
- Group work: Collaborative activities to promote teamwork and problem-solving.
- Case studies: Analysis of real-world examples to apply theoretical concepts.
- Role-playing: Simulations to experience different perspectives and challenges.
- Presentations: Opportunities for participants to share their learning and insights.
