Decolonise emotions and sociopolitical structures – towards a decolonial pedagogy
Time required: 3 – 9 hours
Target Group: People who are interested in how racism works (emotionally and socio-politically). Educators who aim for a deeper understanding of decolonial pedagogy.

Expected prior knowledge: None. Basic terms concerning the general phenomenon of racism could be discussed before we dive deep into the actual topic.
Background & Aims
The workshop consists of three parts, each lead by questions:
Part I: What is racism and how do emotions play a role on this? What is the link to the role of the political educator?
Part II: Where and how could we find colonial structures nowadays?
Part III: How could we address the issues raised in part II respectively overcome those (through civic education)?
Each part works on its own and can be mixed independently.
Procedure
Theoretical knowledge about the psychological mechanisms of racism und reflection on one’s own emotions and role. Elements of theatre pedagogy also included.
