Introductory workshop: What is antisemitism?
Target group: all interested persons
Time required: 2 to 6 hours
Background
Hatred of Jews has a long history. It is often difficult to grasp: it is often relegated to history (›only the Nazis were anti-Semitic‹) or understood as a marginal phenomenon as racism.
Procedure
In order to understand the independent character of anti-Semitism, its social function must be understood. The workshop attempts to visualise this function using concrete examples. In addition to current anti-Semitism, the historical continuity will also be examined.
Objective
- Understanding the social function of anti-Semitism
- Discussion and reflection on various anti-Semitic phenomena
- Understand the difference between anti-Semitism and racism
