Decolonialization and Racism
Age group: from 14 years
Previous knowledge: none
Topics: Colonialism, history, racism, anti-racism, decoloniality, racism in schools
Background
Racism is largely anchored in Colonialism, which created special privileges to one group (colonizers mostly white) while greatly disadvantaged another (colonized mostly BIPoC).
Aims
This workshop wants to create an understanding of what racism and discrimination is. Often we are actors unaware that they are carrying out discrimination if that is in our everyday life or at school. This workshop is therefore aimed at creating awareness about discrimination within young peoples› interactions.
Procedure
We will work on anti-racism by following the aspect of decolonization. To deconstruct the historical biases that have been laid out especially in how it is taught in schools. I also intend to look at how neo-colonialism still affects the two involved groups presently.
Notes
This workshop can be held in English.
