De-escalation and self-protection (especially in political disputes)
Target group: Young people aged 14 and over and young adults, multipliers, people who are professionally or privately confronted with right-wing extremism
Expected prior knowledge: none
Background
The current socio-political situation, especially in East Germany, is characterised by a serious threat situation. This threat situation is primarily directed against people who are subject to right-wing extremist enemy labelling. It can be observed that the labelling of the enemy is expanding – every person who is democratically engaged in any way becomes a potential target of violence, as the attacks on politicians before the European elections recently showed.
Even committed citizens who oppose right-wing extremist statements in their everyday lives or intervene in attacks and threats can become the target of violence. The workshop is therefore aimed at people who are subject to right-wing extremist enemy labelling (people affected by racism, anti-Semitism, queer hostility…) as well as people who want to take a stand against right-wing extremists in everyday life.
Violence and threats are an important strategy used by right-wing extremists to create spaces of fear, exert dominance and prevent civil courage. It is therefore important to encourage people to act with courage, to teach them concepts for protecting themselves and others, but also to enable a realistic assessment of dangers. Wherever right-wing extremists are successful with their strategies of threat and violence, right-wing extremist hegemonies and, in the worst case, ›no-go areas‹ emerge.
Procedure
We will therefore look at various aspects of risk perception, self-protection and the protection of others, adrenaline and the question of what legal assistance is available.
The aim is to enable all participants to find suitable strategies for themselves in order to remain capable of acting in threatening situations. This also includes developing a realistic assessment of their own abilities and options so that they neither act recklessly nor are powerless.
Aims
The primary aim of the workshop is to prevent violence and preserve physical and psychological integrity, while at the same time encouraging civil-courage behaviour. After the workshop, participants will have enough knowledge to prepare suitable chains of action for potentially escalating situations.
Note
The workshop can only be booked as an on-site workshop / face-to-face workshop.
